The Marina Basin

A Sheltered Anchorage

A substantial breakwater separates the protected mooring from the open fjord beyond, keeping the moored fleet safe from wind and swell. Beyond it the waters of the Saltfjorden stretch toward distant islets and the rocky headlands typical of the Nordland coastline.

The Setting of Bodø

Framing the scene are the green slopes and low waterfront buildings of Bodø, the largest city in Nordland and a gateway to the Lofoten archipelago. Its position above the Arctic Circle gives the harbour a distinctly far-northern character.
