Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Direct View of the Falls' Central Rock
This camera frames the Rhine Falls head-on, centering on the weathered limestone pillar that splits the main cascade into twin curtains of white water. Unlike views taken from the opposite riverbank, this angle puts the churning basin and the central rock outcrop at the heart of the frame.
Europe's Most Powerful Waterfall
Stretching 150 meters wide and dropping roughly 23 meters, the Rhine Falls carries the greatest volume of water of any waterfall in Europe. The cascades tumble over ancient limestone formations shaped by the river over thousands of years, near the town of Schaffhausen.
Laufen Castle and the Viewing Platforms
Laufen Castle stands on the cliff above the falls, its terraces and walkways giving visitors a bird's-eye vantage over the cascades. Wooden platforms and a footpath descend toward the water's edge, letting visitors feel the spray and roar of the falls up close.
A Gateway on the Rhine
Downstream from Lake Constance, the Rhine narrows and drops abruptly at this point, creating a natural barrier that historically shaped trade and travel along the river. Today the falls remain a major draw for visitors, with excursion boats circling beneath the central rock when conditions allow.
