The Working Harbour
Oudeschild is the only working harbour on Texel, the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands. The camera looks out over the quays where the island's cutter fleet ties up, framed by the Hotel-Restaurant Havenzicht and the harbourside cafés along the waterfront.
A Living Fishing Tradition
For centuries this basin has been the beating heart of Texel's fishery. The moored kotters land shrimp, sole and plaice, and the constant coming and going of vessels keeps the quay busy with nets, gear and dockside activity.
