A Working Refuge in the Owl Mountains

The Schronisko Górskie "Orzeł" is a hikers' shelter built along a forested ridge of the Owl Mountains (Góry Sowie), part of the Sudetes range in southwestern Poland's Kłodzko County. Guests can book a bunk or a meal at the shelter's own "Piwnica Pod Orłem" tavern while resting midway through a Sudeten crossing.

Overlooking the Sokola Pass

The camera's wide field of view stretches from the Sokola Pass (Przełęcz Sokola) toward the scattered rooftops of Sokolec and Rzeczka in the valley beyond. The Owl Mountains' rounded, densely forested summits frame the horizon on every side, a landscape shaped by centuries of granite quarrying and hiking tradition.

Sitting directly on a well-trodden section of the Sudeten trails, the shelter is a familiar waypoint for hikers tracing the ridge routes that link the Owl Mountains to the wider Sudetenland chain. The camera lets trail planners preview conditions along this stretch before setting out.
