Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Fortress Reopened to the Public
For nearly a century, Örö was a closed military island, guarding the approaches to Turku with concealed coastal artillery batteries. Since 2015 it has been folded into the Archipelago National Park, and its old barracks, bunkers, and gun emplacements are now open trails for curious visitors.
Life at the Guest Harbor
The webcam looks out over the island's sheltered guest marina, where sailboats, motor cruisers, and the occasional fishing boat tie up along timber piers. A small café and seasonal accommodation keep the harbor lively throughout the boating season.
Exploring the Archipelago Sea
Beyond the docks stretch the pine-covered skerries and granite outcrops of the Archipelago Sea, one of the densest island clusters on Earth. Hiking paths wind past old fortifications toward quiet coves and lookout points over the surrounding channels.
Getting There & Staying
Örö is reached by seasonal ferry from Kasnäs, on the Kemiönsaari mainland, making it a popular day-trip or overnight destination for sailors cruising the Finnish archipelago.
