A Secretive Forest Raptor
The Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) is one of the most elusive birds of prey in the Latvian woodlands. This camera offers a rare, uninterrupted window into a nest hidden deep in the spruce and pine forest of Zemgale, less than 200 metres from a Lesser Spotted Eagle nest.
The Resident Pair and Their Brood
The breeding pair, affectionately named Miks and Mona, are raising two chicks this season. Viewers can follow the rhythm of nest life as the adults deliver prey and the young birds grow stronger, jostling within the sturdy stick platform built among the branches.
