Nordic Ski Area at Cypress Mountain

An Olympic Nordic Venue

Cypress Mountain sits on Hollyburn Ridge in the North Shore mountains above West Vancouver, and its Nordic area served as the official venue for the cross-country skiing, biathlon and Nordic combined events of the 2010 Winter Olympics. The clearing in view is part of that extensive trail network.

The Coastal Mountain Landscape

The camera looks across open groomed terrain bordered by towering Douglas fir and western hemlock, typical of the Pacific coastal rainforest that blankets these slopes. Power lines and a service road trace the edge of the cleared run.

Year-Round Recreation

Beyond its winter identity, the Nordic area is a hub for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and trail running, threading through forest toward the alpine meadows of Hollyburn. The site draws visitors from across Metro Vancouver seeking elevation and quiet.
