Everything you need to know about this live stream
The Murodo Plateau
Sitting at roughly 2,450 metres above sea level, Murodo is the highest point reachable by public transport on the famed Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. This broad volcanic plateau forms a natural amphitheatre of alpine meadow, scattered boulders and lingering snowfields, ringed by some of the tallest peaks in central Japan.
The Tateyama Range
The horizon is dominated by the jagged peaks of the Tateyama massif, part of the Hida Mountains of the Northern Japanese Alps. Deep gullies hold snow well into summer, carving the dramatic light-and-dark patterning that makes these 3,000-metre-class summits instantly recognisable.
A Hiker's Gateway
Murodo is the launch point for ascents of Mount Tateyama, one of Japan's Three Holy Mountains, as well as gentler loop trails past Mikurigaike Pond and the surrounding volcanic terrain. The walking path threading across the frame guides thousands of trekkers each season.
A Living Weather Window
Operated by Toyama Television, this camera serves as a real-time weather window onto one of Japan's most exposed high-mountain environments, where conditions can shift rapidly across the open alpine plateau.
