This camera looks out from the covered log deck of The Birches Resort across Moosehead Lake, the vast centerpiece of Maine's North Woods and the largest lake contained entirely within New England. The Birches Resort at Rockwood

Set on the lake's western shore near Rockwood, the resort is a classic Maine sporting camp of hand-built log cabins, a lakeside lodge and a waterfront given over to canoes and kayaks. The timber posts and hanging planters of the deck form a rustic frame around the view.

The North Woods Setting

The surrounding Somerset County backcountry is a working landscape of boreal forest, remote ponds and logging roads, long known for moose, loons and far-reaching paddling routes. The wooded mass of Mount Kineo rises across the water to the east, one of the lake's most recognizable landmarks.
