Martigny-Bourg sits on the flat floor of the Rhône Valley, where the river makes its sharp westward bend. The webcam captures the full sweep of rooftops and tree-lined streets packed between the steep valley walls, with the larger town of Martigny stretching into the distance.

Martigny has been a strategic crossing point for over two thousand years, guarding the routes toward the Great St Bernard and Forclaz passes. Roman ruins, a medieval castle and centuries-old houses give the old quarter its distinctive character.
