A Remote Window into Majete
Perched above a wooded forest stream, this fixed infrared camera is part of a network of remote units that PixCams has deployed throughout Majete Wildlife Reserve, a roughly 700-square-kilometer sanctuary in southern Malawi's Chikwawa District.
A Reserve Built on Reintroduction
Majete is renowned as a pioneer of large-scale wildlife reintroduction, having restored more than 3,000 animals across 17 species over two decades โ from elephant and black rhino to African wild dog โ after the reserve was stripped of its wildlife by poaching.
Solar Power, Satellite Connectivity
Each camera in the network runs on solar power and battery storage, streaming via Starlink satellite internet from a site with no traditional grid or connectivity, allowing continuous coverage of this remote corner of the reserve.
A Corridor for Wildlife
The rocky streambed and dense thicket in view form a natural corridor drawing a wide range of Majete's resident species as they move between feeding and drinking grounds throughout the reserve.
