L'Herpie Piste, Alpe d'Huez

A High-Altitude Alpine Balcony

The l'Herpie webcam looks out from 2,735 metres above sea level, one of the highest vantage points in the Alpe d'Huez ski domain. From here the camera frames a wide corridor of exposed rock and snow patches climbing toward a rugged ridge lined with rocky outcrops.

Gateway to the High-Mountain Lift Network

Chairlift towers and a service shelter mark the route skiers and hikers take toward the resort's high-mountain lift system near the Pic Blanc massif. The terrain shifts sharply between bare scree and hardened snowfields across the year.

Alpe d'Huez, l'Île au Soleil

Known locally as l'île au soleil ("Isle of the Sun"), Alpe d'Huez sits on a south-facing plateau in the Grandes Rousses massif, part of the French Alps in the Isère department. Its glacier access and open slopes make it a landmark destination for alpine sports.

Watching the Mountain Change

Sitting above the tree line, the l'Herpie view shifts dramatically with the seasons, from deep snow cover to bare granite and back again, offering a live window onto one of the Alps' most storied ski terrains.
