Everything you need to know about this live stream
The Southern Transcon Mainline
La Plata sits at milepost 312.7 on the Marceline Subdivision, part of one of the busiest rail corridors in the United States. The double-tracked mainline carries 50–70 trains daily, from BNSF intermodal and manifest freight to local switching moves.
The Historic Amtrak Station
The fixed lens looks out from the restored station platform, hosted by the American Passenger Rail Heritage Foundation. This stop welcomes Amtrak's Southwest Chief twice daily on its long journey between Chicago and Los Angeles.
A Railfan Favorite
Train enthusiasts gather here in person and online to watch heavy freight power through the curve. The clear, elevated eastward perspective makes it easy to spot approaching headlights long before the locomotives reach the platform.
