Perched on the slopes of Koli Hill, this camera looks out across Lake Pielinen, one of Finland's largest and most storied lakes. The rolling ridgelines of Koli have inspired generations of Finnish painters, composers, and writers, and the view remains one of the most photographed in the country.

Koli National Park

The surrounding Koli National Park protects a rare mix of old-growth spruce forest and open fell-like summits within the boreal taiga. Hiking trails radiate from the hotel across ridges and valleys, offering visitors close access to a landscape otherwise found much farther north.

Lake Pielinen's Island-Studded Waters

Below the ridge, Lake Pielinen stretches toward the horizon, its surface broken by dozens of forested islands and skerries. The lake is a key waterway for the Pielinen Karelia sub-region and a favorite spot for boating and fishing throughout the open-water season.
