Izumiotsu Peregrine Falcon Balcony
OnlineThis hotel balcony in Izumiotsu has sheltered a wild peregrine falcon pair since their nest was first found here in 2004. The high vantage overlooks a wide logistics yard and the coastal skyline near Kansai, the falcons' everyday hunting ground. A long-running volunteer watch, known as the Kirara IV and Sara support club, keeps an eye on the pair year after year.

Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Falcon Nest Above the City
Perched on a balcony of the Kanku Izumiotsu Washington Hotel, this camera watches over one of Japan's best-documented urban peregrine falcon territories. Hotel staff first discovered the birds nesting on a mound of pigeon droppings back in 2004, and local volunteers have kept a remote-camera vigil over the site ever since.
A Skyline Over the Yard
The wide-angle view sweeps across a busy logistics and parking yard toward the distant lights of Izumiotsu and the Kansai coastline. It is this open sightline, uncluttered by tall neighbors, that first attracted the falcons to the ledge, giving them a clear launch point for hunting runs.
Kirara IV and Sara
The resident pair, known to observers as Kirara IV and Sara, return to this balcony each breeding season to lay and incubate their eggs. Volunteers from the Izumiotsu Peregrine Falcon Support Club and the Osaka chapter of the Wild Bird Society track every stage, from courtship through fledging.
A Citizen-Science Watch
Since forming in 2006, the support club has published this live feed so anyone can follow the falcons' progress alongside the dedicated nest-box camera, turning a single hotel balcony into an open window on urban wildlife.
