This enclosure recreates a slice of tropical canopy, with mesh walls, hanging branches, and a raised blue nesting box that mimics the secure, sheltered spaces sloths favor in the wild. Climbing ropes and horizontal perches let the animal move at its own unhurried pace between rest spots.

Meet the Resident Sloth

The star of this feed is one of the zoo's sloths, an animal built for a life of deliberate, energy-saving movement. Long curved claws and a firm grip let it hang comfortably from branches for extended stretches, spending much of its time curled up or draped across a favorite perch.

Honolulu Zoo

Located near Kapiolani Park on the island of Oahu, the Honolulu Zoo is a longtime home for tropical wildlife exhibits. This camera is part of the zoo's effort to share its animal ambassadors with visitors around the world, well beyond the physical grounds of the park.

Watching the Feed

Because sloths move so slowly, patient viewers are often rewarded with subtle shifts in posture, a slow reach for a nearby branch, or a change of resting spot. The fixed camera angle keeps the whole enclosure in view, making it easy to spot the sloth wherever it settles.
