This live camera looks into the ornate main hall of Guimashan Temple, a Taoist sanctuary dedicated to Xuan Tian Shang Di on the slopes overlooking the mouth of the Tamsui River. Golden pillars and a glittering glazed-tile roof frame the richly adorned central shrine, where devotees gather for daily rituals. The scene captures the solemn, gilded atmosphere of one of northern Taiwan's most striking temple interiors.

A Sanctuary Above the Tamsui Estuary

Perched on the northwestern slopes of Guanyin Mountain in Bali District, Guimashan Temple — formally known as Zihuang Tianyi Zhenqing Palace — commands sweeping views toward the mouth of the Tamsui River and the Taiwan Strait. Its architecture draws inspiration from the famed Purple Firmament Palace on Mount Wudang in China, giving the complex a distinctive northern-Chinese temple silhouette rarely seen elsewhere on the island.

The Main Hall

This camera streams a continuous view of the main worship hall, where towering gilded pillars and an elaborately carved shrine honor Xuan Tian Shang Di, the Northern Emperor of the Dark Heaven. The roof above is tiled with thousands of individually placed glazed ceramic pieces spelling out the deity's name, an architectural feat unique among Taiwan's temples.

A Digital Worship Hall

Part of a wider initiative to preserve religious culture, the feed lets distant devotees follow the hall's daily rhythm of incense offerings and quiet prayer without traveling to the site. The polished stone floor and red ceremonial tables reflect the warm glow of the hall's lanterns throughout the broadcast.

Visiting Bali District

Guimashan Temple sits within easy reach of other riverside attractions in Bali District, including the Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology and the Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf across the estuary, making the area a popular stop for visitors exploring New Taipei City's coastal heritage trail.
