OnlineThis fixed camera at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort watches the Grandview area, where a sturdy chairlift terminal sits below a rugged slope of granite boulders and standing snags. The Grandview area of Sierra-at-Tahoe
Sierra-at-Tahoe is a family-friendly ski resort of some 2,000 acres in the forested mountains southwest of Lake Tahoe. The Grandview Express is the high-speed chairlift that climbs to the resort's summit, and this camera keeps a steady eye on the granite-strewn slopes of the Grandview area, with its lift towers and a chairlift terminal.
A mountain marked by the Caldor Fire
In 2021 the Caldor Fire swept across the resort, burning around the summit and directly beneath the Grandview lift. The silvery standing snags scattered over the hillside are its lasting trace, rising between young conifers, scattered shrubs and the pale boulders that give this part of the Sierra Crest its character.
On the Highway 50 corridor
The resort lies at Twin Bridges in El Dorado County, right off U.S. Route 50 and a short drive from South Lake Tahoe. Its easy access makes it one of the closest ski areas for visitors coming from Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area.
What to watch on this cam
The view is a practical guide to visibility, snow cover on the runs and the chairlift in operation, and a quiet window onto the changing face of the mountain across the ski season and beyond.
