This camera looks south from the entrance of the Grand Pier across the expansive beach of Weston-super-Mare, one of the most beloved seaside resorts in North Somerset. The wide sweep of sand and the Victorian seafront give the view a timeless holiday character.

The Grand Pier and Its Landmarks

On the left, the Grand Pier stretches some 400 metres into the Bristol Channel, its historic pavilion and Ferris wheel forming an unmistakable outline. Beyond the sands lie the Tropicana and the beach lawns that host air festivals and seasonal fairs.

Tides, Mudflats and Distant Hills

Weston is famous for its immense tidal range, and the camera captures the water advancing across the celebrated mudflats toward the shore. On the horizon rise Brean Down and, on clearer occasions, the Quantock Hills, closing off this dramatic coastal scene.
