Enoshima, an island within reach

This zoomed view frames Enoshima, a tiny wooded island rising from Sagami Bay on Japan's celebrated Shonan coast. The island is tethered to the mainland at Fujisawa by the slender Benten Bridge, whose long causeway carries a steady flow of visitors and traffic toward the shore. The Shonan shoreline

Beyond the island stretches the broad sweep of Katase and the wider Shonan coast, a stretch of beach and surf famous throughout Japan. The island's yacht harbour — a sailing venue of international renown — and its waterfront promenades draw boaters, anglers and strollers to the water's edge.
