A Gateway Ski Center Above Santiago

El Colorado sits in the Farellones valley, roughly an hour's drive from downtown Santiago, and is one of the closest major ski areas to a capital city anywhere in South America. Together with neighboring La Parva and the region's other resorts, it forms the well-known Tres Valles circuit, drawing skiers and snowboarders throughout the Southern Hemisphere winter.

The camera's mirador vantage point captures a working chairlift line rising across the slope, flanked by safety netting and marker poles that keep the piste boundaries visible. A resort groomer is often parked nearby, ready to maintain the snowpack for the next session of runs.

At an elevation exceeding 3,000 meters, El Colorado is set among the bare, rocky peaks of the central Andes, with terrain that ranges from gentle beginner slopes near the base to steeper couloirs favored by experienced skiers higher up the mountain.
