The Summit of Dodge Ridge

This camera looks out from the upper reaches of Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort, a family-owned ski area set in the Stanislaus National Forest of California's central Sierra range. From roughly 2,650 metres the vantage takes in the top of the resort's lifts, a broad clearing of alpine meadow and the surrounding stand of conifers.

A High Sierra Landscape

The scene is framed by dense red fir, lodgepole and ponderosa forest that cloaks the granite ridges of the high Sierra. In the distance, forested slopes fall away toward Pinecrest Lake and the wider Tuolumne backcountry, a landscape shaped by glacial granite and towering old-growth pine.

A Mountain Resort Vantage

Beside the clearing stand a small timber hut and directional trail markers that guide skiers and hikers across the summit. Dodge Ridge draws visitors year round — for the downhill runs that fan out below and for the quiet, high-elevation forest that surrounds them.
