The Kestrel Nest Box
This camera looks straight down into the interior of a nest box built for common kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) on the lift tower of the Corbusierhaus. The box, installed and occupied since 2019, is lined with a deep bed of wood chips that cushions the eggs and shelters the growing chicks.
A Modernist Landmark
The Corbusierhaus โ the Berlin Unitรฉ d'Habitation designed by Le Corbusier for the 1957 Interbau โ rises beside the Olympic grounds in the Westend district. Its towering concrete faรงade makes an ideal cliff-like ledge for the falcons that have adopted the building as home.
Urban Wildlife Up Close
Kestrels are agile hunters that hover over open ground before dropping on prey. This inside feed reveals the private side of their life cycle โ incubation, hatching and the constant feeding of the brood โ without disturbing the birds.
Part of a Wider Nest Watch
The Corbusierhaus project runs several complementary views, from the rooftop panorama to an exterior perch camera, letting viewers follow the kestrel family from every angle across the breeding season.
