A Frontier-Era Main Street

Bridge Street forms the commercial spine of Las Vegas, New Mexico, a town that grew into one of the largest cities in the territory after the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway arrived in 1879. The street links the historic Old Town Plaza with the railroad district, and its compact, walkable blocks have survived remarkably intact.

Architecture & Landmarks

The camera frames a parade of late-19th-century brick and stone commercial buildings, many bearing their original cornices and signage. The restored KiVa Theater marquee, classic Western-wear storefronts, and rows of ornamental cast-iron lamp posts give the block its distinctive frontier-town character.

A Cinematic Historic District

Las Vegas boasts more than 900 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, and its untouched streetscapes have made it a favored backdrop for film and television productions. Bridge Street sits at the center of this remarkably preserved district.
