A Restored Wetland in Tierra de Campos
The Laguna de Boada sits in the agricultural plains of inland Castile and León. Together with the nearby lagoons of La Nava and Pedraza, it forms a crucial inland wintering and breeding ground for aquatic birds, recovered after decades of drainage for farmland.
A Crossroads for Migratory Birds
The lagoon draws a remarkable diversity of species through the seasons — anatidae, geese, waders, herons, gulls and raptors. Spoonbills, black-headed gulls and marsh harriers are among the birds that pause here to rest and feed along their journeys.
The View from the Camera
This fixed camera overlooks the open water and rocky shoreline where storks and waterfowl gather. It offers an intimate, unhurried look at the daily rhythm of a thriving wetland ecosystem.
A Project of Ecological Recovery
Installed by Fundación Global Nature in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Palencia, the cam shares the long effort to restore these wetlands and the remarkable biodiversity that has returned to them.
