The Basilica and Its Tower

Completed in 1953, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary rises in a neo-baroque style of white limestone, its central tower reaching 92 metres and visible across the entire Cova da Iria. A graceful colonnade of more than 200 columns curves out from the façade to enclose the sanctuary's monumental square.

A World Pilgrimage Centre

Built on the site of the 1917 Marian apparitions, the Sanctuary of Fátima draws millions of pilgrims from around the globe each year. The vast esplanade can hold immense gatherings, especially during the great anniversaries when the faithful fill the square.

The Esplanade and Square

One of the largest religious squares in the world, the prayer esplanade stretches before the basilica, lined with monuments, the Chapel of the Apparitions, and a long penitential walkway worn by generations of devotees who cross it on their knees.

The sanctuary complex blends the classical basilica with the vast modern Church of the Holy Trinity opposite it, forming a remarkable architectural ensemble that frames the religious heart of Fátima in central Portugal.
