Everything you need to know about this live stream
The Nazaré Lighthouse and Fort
The view is anchored by the Forte de São Miguel Arcanjo, a 16th-century fortress whose squat red lantern crowns a sheer promontory. The lighthouse marks the boundary between the calm town beach and the wild open Atlantic, and its ramparts serve as the most famous vantage point for watching the surf.
Home of Giant Waves
Directly offshore sits the head of the Nazaré Canyon, an undersea gorge that focuses ocean swells into the colossal walls of water for which the spot is renowned. Praia do Norte below has hosted world-record big-wave rides, drawing elite surfers and crowds of spectators to the headland.
The Atlantic Coastline of Portugal
Beyond the breakers the camera frames the wide sweep of the Costa de Prata, with the rock formation known as the Pedra do Guilim rising from the surf. Seabirds wheel across the horizon while the swell rolls toward the cliffs of central Portugal.
A Living Fishing Town
Nazaré remains one of Portugal's most traditional fishing communities, and this clifftop perspective ties together its maritime heritage, its dramatic geology, and the global surfing phenomenon that has made the village famous.
