This camera overlooks one of the broadest stretches of the Dutch North Sea coast, where a gently shelving sandy beach meets the open water. Fishing boats and container ships trace the far horizon, while the ever-shifting surf marks the rhythm of the tides at Egmond aan Zee.

Strandpaviljoen Bad Egmond

The vantage point is the beach pavilion Bad Egmond, a classic Dutch strandpaviljoen perched at the foot of the dunes. Its raised terrace gives the camera an elevated, unobstructed line of sight across the sand and sea.

Dunes and the wider coast

Behind the beach rise the protected coastal dunes of the Noord-Hollands Duinreservaat, a band of windswept marram grass and shifting sand that shields the low-lying polders inland. This is a defining landscape of the province of North Holland.
