Angama Mara Rift Valley Overlook
OnlinePerched 1,000 feet above the Maasai Mara plains, this camera looks out from Angama Mara across the edge of the Great Rift Valley toward an endless savanna horizon. Wildebeest, zebra and elephant herds move across the golden grassland far below, while eagles glide on the thermals and hot-air balloons drift silently over one of Africa's most iconic wildlife landscapes.

Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Bird's-Eye View of the Great Rift Valley
Set on the edge of the Oloololo Escarpment, the camera at Angama Mara commands a sweeping vista across the floor of the Great Rift Valley. The vast, open plain unrolls toward the horizon in every direction, broken only by scattered acacia trees and the winding line of distant river courses.
The Wildlife of the Maasai Mara
Below the escarpment lies the Maasai Mara National Reserve, part of the wider ecosystem famous for its great annual wildlife migration. Wildebeest, zebra, elephant and lion all range across this landscape, making the plains below the camera one of the richest wildlife theatres on the continent.
Angama Mara: A Legendary Safari Perch
Angama Mara takes its name from the Swahili word for 'suspended in mid-air', an apt description of a lodge built directly on the escarpment's edge. The elevated vantage point has made it one of the most photographed views in East African safari country.
A Landscape in Constant Motion
Because the camera surveys such a wide stretch of the reserve, the scene is rarely still: hot-air balloons drift across the plains, raptors soar on rising air currents, and herds of grazing animals shift slowly across the grassland in the distance.
