The Black Earth

Much of Ukraine lies on chernozem, a deep black soil that is among the most fertile in the world and made the country one of the great grain producers of Europe. The Dnipro, Europe's fourth-longest river, flows through Kyiv on its way to the Black Sea.

Vinnytsia

Vinnytsia stands on the Southern Bug river in the historic region of Podolia. The city is known for its floating fountain on the river, one of the largest in Europe, with evening shows of light and music, and for an old water tower that now houses a museum.

Unlike most webcams, this one does not look at a landscape: it watches a pet food production line in a Vinnytsia factory. It offers a rare live view of industrial work, whose rhythm follows the factory's shifts rather than the weather.
