Belgium
A Coast Served by a Tram
The whole Belgian shoreline is a single straight line of sand, dunes and promenades, and the Kusttram, one of the longest tram lines in the world, runs almost its entire length. Cameras in Knokke-Heist, Zeebrugge, Blankenberge, Wenduine, Oostende, Nieuwpoort, Koksijde and De Panne show wide beaches, kitesurfers and rows of beach cabins that change completely between high and low tide. At the Dutch border, the Zwin nature park protects a tidal salt marsh where white storks nest.
Market Squares of East Flanders
Inland, Sint-Niklaas has the largest market square in Belgium, filmed from the tower of its city hall, and Oudenaarde, on the Scheldt, shows its Gothic town hall in the town where the Tour of Flanders finishes. Lokeren adds a view from above its own Markt.
Falcons on the Towers
Every spring, cameras on the tower of the Sint-Walburga church in Oudenaarde, in Lokeren and on an office building in Ghent follow peregrine falcons from the first egg in March to the chicks' first flights in early summer.
