A Classic Pacific Bay

The Bay of Zihuatanejo is one of the most photographed inlets on Mexico's Guerrero coast, a near-circular harbor ringed by green hills and protected from the open Pacific by rocky headlands. This elevated vantage looks out across the full sweep of the bay, from the town waterfront to the resort-lined eastern shore.

Famous Playa La Ropa

Stretching along the bay's southeastern edge, Playa La Ropa is Zihuatanejo's signature beach, its gentle sands and warm shallow water making it a favorite for swimmers and paddleboarders. Beachfront hotels, palapas and seafood restaurants line the shore beneath the hills.

A Living Fishing Port

Despite its tourism, Zihuatanejo remains a working fishing community. Small boats anchor in the sheltered waters, and the town's narrow streets, market and waterfront promenade preserve the relaxed character that made this a beloved alternative to neighboring Ixtapa.
