Mission: Wolf and Zeab's Den
Zeab's Den is one of the first enclosures ever built at Mission: Wolf, a remote nonprofit sanctuary in the mountains of southern Colorado. It gives a home to rescued wolves and wolf-dogs that can no longer live in the wild or as pets, and the space is named for Zeab, one of the sanctuary's beloved ambassador animals.
A Wild High-Desert Habitat
The enclosure spans several acres of natural, unlandscaped ground, including a segment of the wolf ravine that runs the length of the sanctuary. Scattered pine and juniper, open slopes and rocky outcrops let the animals dig dens, patrol territory and rest in shade much as they would in the wild.
The Ambassador Pack
For decades, thousands of visitors have sat quietly in Zeab's Den to meet the sanctuary's ambassador wolves. The camera offers that same up-close perspective from anywhere, revealing the social bonds, play and calm routines of a pack that would otherwise be almost impossible to observe.
Conservation and Education
Mission: Wolf uses these encounters to teach respect for a misunderstood species and to support wolf conservation across North America. Watching the pack here is both a chance to appreciate their quiet dignity and a reminder of the work that keeps rescued wolves safe.
