West Lake Beach sits along the western shore of the inlet connecting Lake Montauk to the Atlantic Ocean, just steps from the boatyards and docks of West Lake Drive. Wooden snow fences stripe the low dunes, holding the sand in place against the coastal wind.

Where the Lake Meets the Sea

The camera faces the inlet channel, the narrow passage that carries fishing boats and pleasure craft between the sheltered waters of Lake Montauk and the open ocean beyond. A navigation light marks the channel entrance for passing vessels.

A Quiet Stretch of Sand

Unlike Montauk's more crowded ocean beaches, this secluded shoreline stays relatively peaceful, bordered by native dune grasses and a simple wooden walkway. It's a favorite spot for long beach walks and watching the boat traffic drift by.
