Perched on a purpose-built platform above the rooftops of Uherský Brod, this nest gives the resident stork pair a commanding view over the church spires and terracotta roofs of the historic Moravian town below. Storks favor tall, exposed structures like chimneys and towers for exactly this reason — height keeps the sprawling stick nest safe while offering easy launch points for foraging flights.

Life in the Nest

Through the season the pair rebuilds and reinforces the nest with fresh twigs, taking turns to stand guard, preen their black-and-white plumage, and scan the surrounding meadows and rooftops. The platform can host the same pair, or their offspring, for many consecutive years, making it a fixture of the town's skyline.
