Trpejca Lakefront on Lake Ohrid

One of Europe's Most Ancient Lakes

Lake Ohrid is among the oldest surviving lakes on Earth, holding more than two hundred endemic species in its remarkably clear, deep waters. From Trpejca the view stretches across the open basin toward the far shore and the ridges that mark the border highlands.

A Traditional Fishing Village

Trpejca is one of the most picturesque settlements on the Macedonian side of the lake, a cluster of stone houses tumbling down to a small pebbled cove. Wooden boats line the waterfront, a reminder of the village's long fishing tradition.

UNESCO World Heritage Surroundings

The lake and its shoreline form a rare mixed natural and cultural World Heritage site, prized for both its biodiversity and the historic monasteries set along the coast. The wooded slopes of Galičica National Park rise directly behind the village.
