Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Sanctuary in the Sacred Valley
This camera streams from a private hummingbird sanctuary in Urubamba, deep in Peru's storied Sacred Valley of the Incas. Roughly a ninety-minute drive from Cusco, the property has been cultivated for years by its caretakers, whose flowering plants and well-tended feeders draw an extraordinary variety of birds to a single spot.
Rare and Spectacular Species
Few places let you watch the Sword-billed Hummingbird โ the only bird with a beak longer than its body โ feed beside the Giant Hummingbird, the largest hummingbird on Earth. The Shining Sunbeam, Sparkling Violetear, Black-tailed Trainbearer and Great Sapphirewing are among the dozen-plus species that visit these feeders.
An Andean Garden Habitat
The lush backdrop is a working Andean garden of native flowers and shrubs, a habitat that sustains hummingbirds year-round. Peru is home to around 124 hummingbird species, fourteen of them endemic, making this one of the richest places on the planet to observe them.
A Window into Peruvian Biodiversity
Beyond the feeders, the cam is a conservation showcase for the Andes and the wider Sacred Valley. It connects viewers worldwide to a fragile, high-altitude ecosystem and to the local families working to protect these remarkable birds.
