A Modern Gateway to Fukui

This camera frames the east exit of Fukui Station, the principal rail hub of Fukui and the arrival point for travellers reaching the Sea of Japan coast. The station serves the Hokuriku Shinkansen and local lines that thread through the surrounding prefecture.

The Signature Canopy

Dominating the view is the plaza's sculptural white steel canopy, a graceful arc of ribs that shelters the taxi and bus rotary. Its fan-like geometry has become a recognisable emblem of the redeveloped station district.

A Transit Rotary in Motion

Below the canopy, taxis and local buses circulate through clearly marked boarding bays, ferrying commuters and visitors between the platforms and the city. The broad, uncluttered forecourt gives the plaza an unhurried, orderly rhythm.

Exploring Central Fukui

Beyond the plaza lies the compact core of Fukui city, gateway to Eiheiji temple, the fossil-rich Katsuyama valley, and the dramatic cliffs of Tojinbo. The station forecourt is where most of these journeys begin.
