The Sodus Point Lighthouse
The Sodus Point Lighthouse has guarded this corner of the Lake Ontario shoreline since the nineteenth century. Its stout stone tower and keeper's dwelling, now a museum, mark the entrance to Sodus Bay and remain one of the most recognizable maritime landmarks in western New York.
Sodus Bay & Lake Ontario
Beyond the point, the sheltered Sodus Bay opens onto the seemingly endless horizon of Lake Ontario, the easternmost of the Great Lakes. A breakwater pier reaches out into the water, channeling sailboats and fishing craft between the bay and the open lake.
The Shoreline & Setting
In the foreground a gently sloping lawn gives way to a rock revetment and a fringe of mature trees that frame the view. This tranquil waterfront is a hub for boating, fishing and lakeside recreation throughout the warmer half of the year.
A Great Lakes Resort Village
The hamlet of Sodus Point is a beloved summer retreat on New York's lake shore, drawing visitors to its marinas, sandy beach and historic lighthouse. This camera offers a constant window onto its quiet, water-bound charm.
