A Sheltered Marina on the IJ

Sixhaven is a compact recreational harbour tucked into the north bank of the IJ, the broad waterway that splits Amsterdam. Rows of sailing yachts and motor cruisers sit along its wooden jetties, their masts forming a forest of rigging against the open water.

Free passenger ferries shuttle frequently between Sixhaven and Central Station, a five-minute crossing that links the marina to the heart of the city. With standing-mast access from the IJsselmeer and the North Sea, the harbour remains a working gateway for sailors.
