A Rotating Window on a Protected Wetland
This single broadcast automatically rotates through several fixed observation cameras installed across the Shamkir State Nature Sanctuary, so one feed reveals many corners of the reserve. The on-screen camera number marks which vantage is currently live as the view shifts between the reservoir, its shoreline and the surrounding woodland.
The Yenikend Reservoir and Its Tugai Forests
The cameras overlook the Yenikend Reservoir and the rare tugai riparian forests that line it. These flooded woodlands form a crucial refuge in a largely arid landscape, drawing flocks of waterbirds to feed and rest among the shallows and reed beds.
Wildlife of a 10,000-Hectare Reserve
Established in 1964, the sanctuary protects roughly 10,000 hectares of habitat for wild boar, francolin, pheasant, partridge and a great variety of waterfowl. The rotating cameras offer a patient, uninterrupted look at species that are usually shy of human presence.
Conservation and Ecological Monitoring
Operated by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the cameras serve ecological monitoring and the detection of violations within the reserve. The public stream turns that conservation work into a continuous window onto one of the country's important wetland habitats.
