A Working New England Harbor

Rockport Harbor is a compact, deep-water anchorage carved into the granite coast of midcoast Maine. The stream looks out over a fleet of moored sailboats, motor cruisers, and traditional lobster boats that swing gently on their moorings, a scene that captures the enduring maritime character of the region.

The Marine Park and Public Landing

In the foreground sits the town's waterfront marine park, a grassy shelf with picnic tables, benches, and a public boat launch where visitors gather at the water's edge. A statue commemorating Andre the Seal, the harbor's most famous resident, stands nearby, anchoring the park's local history.

A Sheltered Coastal Setting

A forested peninsula wraps around the outer harbor, giving the basin its calm, protected water and its picture-postcard reflections. Beyond the moorings the view opens toward Penobscot Bay, framing one of the most photographed small harbors on the New England coast.
