The Reykjanes Peninsula marks the point where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge emerges from the ocean and crosses onto Icelandic land, splitting the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. This live vantage overlooks a broad volcanic plateau shaped by that slow continental rifting, where the ground is laced with fissures, faults, and the scars of repeated eruptions.

Lava Fields and Highland Terrain

The view spans extensive lava fields — some centuries old, others geologically recent — softened by hardy moss and low vegetation that give the plateau its characteristic green-and-brown patchwork.
