Restless is a monumental kinetic sculpture by artist Penny Saunders, composed of fourteen hollow cedar columns bundled together and mounted on an articulated steel frame. The structure sways and rotates freely in response to the wind, evoking the outline of an ancient temple perched above the treeline.

The artwork rises above a lush subtropical garden near Penzance, in Cornwall, England, surrounded by exotic planting and rolling countryside. The gardens are renowned for blending contemporary art with an exceptional botanical collection.

Engineering Meets Nature

Counterweighted by concrete masses and joined through a flexible framework, Restless is engineered to move gracefully in winds of up to 60 mph, embodying flexibility in the face of nature's forces.
