The Alaska Zoo's polar bear habitat recreates the rugged terrain of the Arctic coast, complete with sculpted granite outcrops, a chilled pool, and shaded dens. This naturalistic enclosure gives its resident bears room to roam, dig, and swim much as they would along the sea ice.

Built for Enrichment

Scattered across the yard are colorful enrichment toys — buoys, barrels, and puzzle feeders — designed to keep the polar bears mentally engaged. Keepers regularly rotate these objects and can often be seen tending the habitat on camera.

Conservation Through Connection

By streaming this exhibit around the clock, the zoo invites viewers everywhere to observe Arctic wildlife up close and learn about the conservation challenges facing polar bears amid a changing climate.

A Fixed Vantage Point

The camera holds a steady, elevated view over the habitat's rock formations and water features, capturing the full expanse of the enclosure from the chain-link perimeter to the den entrances.
