A Moorish Revival Icon

The silver minarets crowning Plant Hall have defined the Tampa skyline since the 1890s, when the building opened as Henry B. Plant's opulent railroad hotel. Thirteen domes and cupolas give the structure a fantastical silhouette rarely found on a US college campus.

A Living University Campus

Today the building serves as the administrative heart of the University of Tampa, surrounded by manicured lawns, palm-lined walkways, and centuries-old oaks. Students cross the grounds daily beneath the same ornate towers that once welcomed Gilded Age travelers.

Along the Hillsborough River

The campus sits directly on the Hillsborough River, just west of downtown Tampa, giving the view a green, riverside backdrop framed by the city's high-rises in the distance. The leafy setting softens the transition between historic architecture and the modern skyline beyond.

A National Historic Landmark

Plant Hall is listed as a National Historic Landmark and today houses the Henry B. Plant Museum, preserving the building's original Victorian-era furnishings. Its distinctive silhouette remains one of the most photographed sights in the Tampa Bay area.
