Osprey Nest Cam at Barlinek
OnlineA high vantage looks straight down into a massive osprey nest woven from branches atop a telecommunications mast on the edge of Barlinek. Beyond the rim spread the patchwork fields, scattered village rooftops and forests of West Pomerania. The feed is operated by Poland's Committee for the Protection of Eagles to follow these fish-eating raptors across the breeding season.
About This Webcam
Everything you need to know about this live stream
The Nest
The camera peers down into a large stick nest raised on a steel telecommunications mast, a platform ospreys return to and rebuild each year. Woven branches and lining material form a deep bowl that can hold a full clutch and growing chicks.
The Surrounding Landscape
From this height the lens takes in the rural fringe of Barlinek, where tilled fields, hedgerows and red-roofed homes give way to the woodland and lakes that define West Pomerania.
The Ospreys
The osprey is a specialised fish-eating raptor that travels long distances between its breeding and wintering grounds. Mated pairs are loyal to a single nest, making this elevated platform a reliable stage for courtship, incubation and the raising of young.
The Conservation Project
The stream is maintained by the Committee for the Protection of Eagles, a Polish organisation that monitors birds of prey. The live view doubles as a research and education tool, letting viewers witness raptor behaviour without disturbing the nest.
