Ohashi Bridge and Riverside Park
OnlineThe Ohashi Bridge carries road traffic across the wide, braided channel of the Kuma River beside Nakagawara Park, a riverside green space set on the water's own gravel bars. Forest-covered hills rise beyond the rooftops of central Hitoyoshi, framing a broad valley where the river's currents, footbridges and low-rise streets meet.

Ohashi Bridge
The Ohashi Bridge links the two banks of central Hitoyoshi, carrying local traffic over the broad waters of the Kuma River on a series of low concrete piers. From this angle the crossing frames the entire width of the valley, with the roadway curving gently toward the streets on the far shore.
Nakagawara Park
Just beside the bridge, Nakagawara Park occupies a long gravel bar built up by the river itself, offering a green riverside space wedged between two channels of moving water. The park's open lawns and footpaths give residents a quiet vantage point on the river that shaped the town.
The Kuma River's Valley
Fed by the mountains of southern Kyushu, the Kuma River splits into multiple braided channels as it passes through Hitoyoshi, depositing the sandbars and gravel banks visible throughout the frame. The river has long defined the rhythm of the town, from its fishing grounds to its bridges.
A Castle Town Beneath the Hills
Beyond the riverbanks, Hitoyoshi's low rooftops sit under a ring of densely forested peaks typical of the Kuma basin. Once the seat of the Sagara clan's castle, the town retains its historic layout along the river it has always depended on.
