Oberwiesenthal Village & Keilberg

Germany's Highest Town

Oberwiesenthal sits at roughly 900 meters above sea level in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge), earning its title as Germany's highest-elevation town. The webcam looks out from the Summit of Saxony Resort across a cluster of traditional Erzgebirge houses, their steep roofs and timber facades clustered along narrow streets that wind toward the valley center.

The Keilberg Skyline

Dominating the horizon is the Keilberg (Klínovec in Czech), the highest peak of the entire Ore Mountains range at over 1,200 meters, straddling the German-Czech border. Its summit telecommunications tower, marked by aviation lights, is a familiar landmark visible from across the valley and a defining feature of the local skyline.

Gateway to the Fichtelberg

The resort itself stands at the foot of the Fichtelberg, Saxony's highest mountain and a long-established winter sports hub with a cable car and ski runs just minutes away. The webcam's wide vantage captures both the alpine village atmosphere below and the surrounding Erzgebirge ridgelines that draw hikers and skiers year-round.

A Cross-Border Mountain Community

Oberwiesenthal has long served as a gateway between Saxony and the neighboring Czech Republic, with the border running along the ridge just beyond the Keilberg. The view captures the layered character of this mountain community — village rooftops, forested slopes, and a shared alpine skyline spanning two countries.
