This camera frames the Fisher Ferry Road grade crossing at milepost 306.1 on Norfolk Southern's Danville District, a key segment of the Piedmont Division and the former Southern Railway mainline linking Washington, D.C. with Atlanta. Crossing gates, signals and the double-track right-of-way fill the frame as traffic rolls through.

An average of thirty-five trains a day pass this point โ Norfolk Southern intermodal, manifest and unit trains, plus Amtrak's Crescent, Carolinian and Piedmont passenger services. It is one of the busiest train-watching locations in the American Southeast.
